In an exciting development for students at the University of Cape Coast (UCC), the Student Representative Council (SRC) has announced a significant change in the approach to supplementary examinations.
This update, which comes after the Academic Board’s Second Regular Meeting for the 2022/2023 academic year on September 15, promises to benefit both Level 100 and Level 400 students.
The Academic Board has given its preliminary approval to the idea of including all students in the supplementary examinations, traditionally organized at the start of each academic year for Level 100 and Level 400 students.
To facilitate the implementation of this policy change, an ad-hoc committee has been established to develop guidelines and procedures.
While the official communication from the Academic Board regarding the committee’s report is eagerly awaited, students in Levels 200 and 300 who may have trailed some papers are encouraged to remain patient.
The first re-sit/supplementary examinations for Level 100 and Level 400 failed course(s) are provisionally scheduled to take place from Monday, October 16th, to Friday, October 20th, 2023. The examination venue will be the C.A. Ackah Lecture Complex (CAALC 9).
To cover the re-sit fees, students should be aware that the current cost is GHC 120.00 per paper. The SRC is actively engaging with the university’s management to explore possible fee reductions.
Please note that payments for re-sit fees can only be made at the Consolidated Bank of Ghana, so remember to go with your pay-in slip to the examination center.
In preparation for the supplementary examinations, students are advised to consistently check their academic portal for any trailed courses that require action.
As soon as the Directorate of Academic Affairs releases the re-sit timetable, the SRC will communicate the details. You can expect to find the timetable on the student portal (portal.ucc.edu.gh) in due course.
Here is some good news for Level 100 students who may be feeling the pressure: if you happen to fail a course or courses in the supplementary examination, you will have a second re-sit opportunity to redeem yourself.
