The Ghana Education Service has officially released the academic calendar for Kindergarten (KG), Primary, and Junior High Schools (JHS) for the 2024/2025 academic year.
To ensure clarity and make it easier for parents and students to keep track of essential dates, we have broken down the revised academic calendar below.
1st Term Reopening
On September 10, students and teachers of JHS, Primary, and KG across the country enthusiastically returned to school. They will spend just over three months in school before the first term break, which is scheduled for December 19. This break allows them to recharge before resuming their academic journey.
1st Term Vacation
The first term vacation is slated for December 20. While it provides a well-deserved break, it is notably short, lasting only 19 days.
2nd Term Reopening
The second term of the 2024/2025 academic year will commence on January 8, 2025 and extend through to April 17. This equates to more than three months of continuous learning and progress for students and teachers.
2nd Term Vacation
The second term vacation has been scheduled from April 18 to May 5 for all teachers and students in basic schools throughout the country. Like the first term vacation, this break is relatively brief, lasting just 17 days.
3rd Term Reopening & Vacation
The third term for the 2024/2025 academic year is set to start on May 6 and will run until July 24. After this term, students will enjoy another vacation before the start of the next academic year.
It is essential to note that during this term, the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) will be conducted by the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) in the month June 2025. This examination is a crucial milestone for Form 3 JHS students across all 16 regions in the country.
