The Ghana Education Service (GES) has officially opened the application window for the 2025 teacher promotion exercise. Qualified and serving teachers/officers are invited to submit applications online for consideration into higher ranks.
Available Ranks for Promotion
Teachers can apply for promotion to the following positions:
- Deputy Director (DD)
- Assistant Director I (ADI)
- Assistant Director II (ADII)
- Principal Superintendent (PS)
Qualification Criteria
GES outlined the following requirements for applicants:
- Deputy Director: Must have been promoted to Assistant Director I in or before 2021 and served continuously at post (excluding approved leave).
- Assistant Director I: Must have been promoted to Assistant Director II in or before 2021 and served continuously at post.
- Assistant Director II: Must have been promoted to Principal Superintendent in or before 2021 and served continuously at post.
- Principal Superintendent: Must have been promoted to Senior Superintendent I in or before 2021 and served continuously at post. Applicants with an approved undergraduate degree will automatically be placed on this rank.
Guidelines for Master’s/PhD Holders
Teachers applying with postgraduate qualifications must note the following:
- The programme must be on the approved GES course list.
- The certificate must not have been obtained before the applicant’s previous promotion.
- Certificates must have been obtained in or before 2023 to qualify for ADI, ADII, or Deputy Director promotions.
Mode of Application
To complete the process, applicants must:
- Fill out the application form online via bit.ly/gespromotion25 or scan the QR code provided by GES.
- Upload the following documents:
- Passport-size photograph (JPG, JPEG, or PNG)
- Last promotion/appointment/upgrading letter
- Highest academic certificate being used for the promotion
- Ensure all uploaded documents (except the passport picture) are in PDF format, clear, and legible.
Application Timeline
- Opens: Thursday, 11th September, 2025
- Closes: Thursday, 9th October, 2025
The notice, signed by Prof. Smile Dzisi (Mrs.), Acting Deputy Director-General (MS) on behalf of the Ag. Director-General, emphasized that applications submitted outside the official portal will not be considered.
