The Teacher Trainees Association of Ghana (TTAG) has in a document available to GESHub.org delivered some significant news to all Teacher Trainees eagerly awaiting their allowances.
While the announcement of allowance disbursement for three months was undoubtedly a cause for celebration, the letter by TTAG titled “Update on Teacher Trainee Allowance” also conveyed a crucial change that left many Trainees concerned – the reduction of the allowance component.
TTAG, through their National Executive Council (NEC), joyfully announced that eligible Teacher Trainees can now expect to receive their allowance for three months. This financial assistance comes as a much-needed support to the Trainees during their educational pursuit and represents the Association’s dedication to advocating for their welfare.
However, amidst the excitement of receiving the allowance, Trainees are confronted with a significant change – the allowance has been reduced to GH¢ 149.00. This decision was based on a request made by PRINCOF to the Ministry of Education (MoE) during the previous academic year.
The objective behind the reduction was to allocate funds to supplement the feeding of Trainees, effective from the current academic year.
