In a surprising turn of events, the Ghana Education Service (GES) has made a significant adjustment to the vacation and reopening dates for all final year students attending Single Track schools across the country. This decision, outlined in a directive obtained by GESHub.org, aims to ensure adequate preparation time for these students as they approach a crucial phase in their academic journey.
Initially scheduled to vacate on March 5, 2024, final year students in Single Track schools will now remain in school until the 28th of March, 2024, before breaking for the semester. This extension grants them additional time to review their coursework, engage in revision exercises, and adequately prepare for the upcoming West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE).
Following their extended vacation, these final year students are expected to return to school on the 17th of April, 2024. Notably, this adjustment results in a reduction in the original number of vacation days, moving from the previously scheduled May 2, 2024, reopening date for the second semester.
However, it is essential to note that this directive exclusively applies to final year students in Single Track schools. Form 1 and 2 students in these schools will adhere to their original academic calendar, with no changes made to their vacation and reopening dates.
For Form 2 students, the vacation remains set for March 5, 2024, with a reopening date of May 2, 2024. Similarly, Form 1 students will break for vacation on March 15, 2024, and resume classes on May 2, 2024.
