The National Council for Curriculum and Assessment (NaCCA) has announced a significant reduction in the number of subjects offered in Senior High Schools, effective from the 2024/2025 academic year. The number of subjects will be reduced from 63 to 37 in an effort to better align the curriculum with the educational needs of students and the demands of the modern world.

This change aims to allow for a thoughtful evaluation of the relevance and importance of each subject, ensuring that students are equipped with the knowledge and skills necessary for their future academic and career success. By discontinuing certain subjects deemed less critical, NaCCA plans to reallocate time and resources to essential subjects, thus streamlining the educational experience and alleviating the burden on students.
