The Ghana Education Service (GES) has officially closed the 2024 recruitment portal, marking the end of the application phase for the first batch of 2022 Colleges of Education degree holders. This closure signals the imminent release of appointment letters, a significant step in the recruitment process that has been eagerly anticipated by many aspiring educators.
The recruitment drive, which invited applications from qualified trained teachers who graduated with a first degree from public Colleges of Education, opened its doors on May 15, 2024. Applicants had until June 17, 2024, to submit their applications through the GES portal at gespromotions.gov.gh. This initiative was aimed at bolstering the nation’s education sector by filling essential roles with fresh, capable graduates.
Applicants were required to meet specific criteria to be considered for recruitment. These included completing their College of Education in 2022 with no outstanding examinations or referrals, fulfilling mandatory national service requirements, and demonstrating a readiness to work wherever needed. Essential documents such as the degree certificate, National Service Scheme (NSS) certificate, National Teaching Council (NTC) licensure number, Ghana Card, and a passport-sized photograph were also necessary for submission.
The closure of the recruitment portal is an important moment in this process. With the application window now shut, the next crucial step is the release of appointment letters. This forthcoming phase will officially place selected candidates into their respective roles within the education system, enabling them to contribute to the nation’s educational development.
