As of April 3, 2024, the Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT) has raised significant concerns regarding challenges faced with photo IDs used for loan applications. These challenges have resulted in a notable number of incomplete transactions, leading to delays in loan processing and, in some instances, rejections.

One primary issue observed pertains to the passport size pictures uploaded onto the Electronic Salary Payment Voucher (ESPV) platform. Rather than adhering to the required passport size specifications, some submissions have included half-body size images with unsuitable backgrounds.

Instances range from selfies to photos taken in various settings such as classrooms, farmlands, churches, and even weddings. GNAT emphasizes the importance of ensuring that only passport size pictures with clear backgrounds are uploaded to facilitate smoother processing.

Furthermore, GNAT has noted discrepancies in the quality of color photocopies of the Ghana Card submitted with applications. Some copies exhibit unclear facial features or text, while others are submitted in black and white format. It is imperative for loan applicants to provide clear, color photocopies of their Ghana Cards to ensure accurate verification.

Another significant anomaly observed is conflicting names across different documents. Discrepancies arise when the name on the Ghana Card does not match that on the Temporary Payment Reference Number System (TPRS) and the Controller and Accountant General’s Department (CAGD) system.

GNAT hits on the importance of name consistency across all documents. Should an applicant undergo a name change reflected on the Ghana Card, it is imperative to update this information with the CAGD promptly.

In light of these observations, GNAT urges all District Secretaries to disseminate this crucial information among members. Strict compliance with these guidelines is essential to minimize the risk of loan application rejections and streamline the loan processing procedure.

By adhering to these outlined measures, GNAT members can contribute to smoother loan processing experiences, avoiding unnecessary delays and ensuring timely access to financial support.

Stay informed, stay compliant, and ensure your GNAT loan application meets the required criteria for swift processing. Your cooperation is crucial in expediting the loan approval process and facilitating timely financial assistance to GNAT members in need.
