The Management of the National Council for Curriculum and Assessment, Ghana, has been accused of non-payment of monies owed workers it contracted last year.

According to multiple sources, the Council has refused to pay the T&T and feeding for Test Administrators who assisted in the successful conduct of the Basic 2 National Standardized Test in 2022.

In a series of post by a former contract worker by name Kojo Mensah who took to Facebook to register his displeasure, the Test Administrators for the Basic 2 National Standardized Test in 2022 used their own money to feed and convey themselves to their respective examination destinations.

However, the Council since last year, has turned deaf ear to the plight of these workers regarding the monies they are owed.

“We are not demanding any allowance but rather, our own money that we used to move around the towns and villages for the exercise. It is long overdue, kindly pay us now”, Kojo Mensah tagged NaCCA in a post.

Mr. Mensah also added the fact that these Test Administrators for the Basic 2 National Standardized Test had agreed not to receive any other allowances from the Council except for their T&T and feeding money.

“Stop being shameless and pay the NST T&T and feeding! How can you not have plans to pay us just T&T and feeding after we accepted to not receive any allowances?”, Mr. Mensah shared.

These revelations come after the Management of the National Council for Curriculum and Assessment, Ghana on February 14, 2023, opened recruitment for qualified and interested Graduates to apply and be employed on contract as book assessors in assisting the institution in assessing books in all subject areas for all pre-tertiary levels in the country.

NaCCA is yet to officially respond to these alleged non-payment of T&T and feeding money for workers it contracted in 2022 to conduct the Basic 2 National Standardized Test.

All attempts by GESHub.org to reach authorities of the Council has proved futile.

Who is NaCCA?

NaCCA is an entity mandated by the Education Regulatory Bodies Act, 2020 (Act 1023) to develop national curriculum and assessment standards for pre-tertiary education institutions other than technical and vocational education and training institutions.

It was first established following the 2007 education reforms as an Advisory Board to the Curriculum Research and Development Division (CRDD) of the Ghana Education Service.

The goal was to help manage and implement the Curriculum Policy of the Ministry of Education towards the attainment of educational objectives and development goals of the nation.

As a result, CRDD was established as a statutory Council by the Education Act of 2008, Act 778.

Currently, the legislative instrument which the council operates under is the Education Bodies Regulatory Act of 2020, Act 1023 with the mandate to ensure curriculum and assessment standards at the pre-tertiary level excluding technical and vocational education.
