Graduate teachers under the “pending for consideration” category may soon see a resolution to their long wait, as the Ghana Education Service (GES) and the Ministry of Education (MoE) have given strong assurances that permanent postings will be issued immediately after financial clearance is approved by the Ministry of Finance.
This major update was highlighted in a statement released by the leadership of the Alliance of University Graduate Teachers Under Pending for Consideration (GES). Originally scheduled to hold a picketing exercise on April 14, 2025, the group has officially postponed the action, citing progress in engagements with key stakeholders.
According to the alliance, the decision to suspend the picketing followed a closed-door meeting with the Ghana Police Service to address logistical and safety concerns. However, beyond security arrangements, a more critical reason for the postponement emerged from recent dialogue with GES and MoE officials.
During these discussions, GES and MoE reiterated their commitment to resolving the long-standing issue of graduate teachers who completed national service and passed their licensure exams but remain unposted. Leadership revealed that all internal processes for posting have been finalized. The only hurdle left is the financial clearance from the Ministry of Finance, which, once received, will pave the way for the release of official postings.
This assurance is a significant relief for many graduates who have remained in limbo, some for over a year, awaiting deployment into the teaching service. The leadership views this development as a major breakthrough and believes continuing engagement with government institutions is currently the most strategic path.
“This gives us more time to re-strategize and mobilize for a more impactful action if necessary,” the statement noted, while calling on members to remain calm, resolute, and focused on the common goal—permanent posting for all qualified graduate teachers under ‘pending for consideration’.
While the delay may be frustrating, the assurance from the relevant authorities suggests that the end is near. As soon as the financial clearance is formally issued, postings are expected to be released without further delay.
The alliance encourages all affected graduates to stay updated through official communication channels and remain united in their resolve.
