The National Tripartite Committee, comprising representatives from the Government, Employers, and Organised Labour/Associations, has officially begun negotiations for the 2025 Minimum Wage. The discussions commenced on Monday, February 3, 2025, marking a crucial step in determining the new wage structure for the upcoming financial year.

Following the conclusion of the minimum wage negotiations, deliberations on base pay for public sector workers will take place. The government has emphasized the urgency of these negotiations, given that they are already behind schedule. According to the Public Financial Management (PFM) Act, the discussions were expected to be finalized by the end of April 2024.

In light of this delay, the government has urged all social partners—comprising government officials, employers, and organised labour—to work diligently to complete the negotiations promptly. Their timely conclusion is essential to ensuring that the final wage agreements inform the 2025 Budget effectively.

The statement, signed by Acting Spokesperson to the President, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, underscores the administration’s commitment to addressing wage-related concerns in a structured and inclusive manner. As the negotiations progress, stakeholders are hopeful for a resolution that balances economic realities with fair compensation for workers.
