The Students’ Representative Council (SRC) of the University of Cape Coast (UCC) has introduced a life insurance policy to provide financial support to students who face the unfortunate loss or disability of their sponsoring guardians or parents. This policy ensures that students continue their education uninterrupted by offering benefits such as financial assistance and maintenance allowances during such difficult times.

Key Features of the Policy

  1. Coverage for Death of Student/Sponsoring Guardian
    This provision ensures full insurance benefits in the event of the natural or accidental death of a student or their sponsoring guardian.
  2. Permanent Disability Benefit for Sponsoring Guardian
    If a sponsoring guardian suffers from permanent total disability, whether due to natural or accidental causes, the policy guarantees full benefit payments to the student.
  3. Maintenance Allowance for Students
    Students are eligible for a monthly maintenance allowance of GHS 2,000.00 if their sponsoring guardian faces death or permanent disability.
  4. Disability Assurance Cover for Students
    In the event of accidental disability or injury to a student, the policy covers associated costs based on the severity of the injury.

How to Apply for the SRC Life Insurance Policy

To access these benefits, eligible students are required to follow these straightforward steps:

  1. Present Evidence of Death Certificate of Guardian/Parent
    Submit an official death certificate to the SRC office as proof of the guardian or parent’s passing.
  2. Provide the Medical Cause of Death
    Include a document indicating the medical cause of death alongside the death certificate.
  3. Evidence of Disability for Guardian/Parent
    For cases of disability, present valid documentation confirming the parent or guardian’s condition.
  4. Attach a Letter of Request
    Write a letter addressed to the SRC President, detailing your request for the insurance claim.
  5. Provide Proof of Student Status
    Submit a printed screenshot of your school fees as evidence of your enrollment.

Once all documents are gathered, students can submit their application at the SRC Office, located behind Valco Hall.
