In an official communication dated January 3, Dr. Samuel Addae-Boateng, the General Secretary of the Conference of Principals of Colleges of Education in Ghana (PRINCOF), shared the eagerly anticipated 2023/2024 Academic Calendar.
The approved calendar, endorsed by PRINCOF, the Ghana Teacher Education Council (GTEC), and the Ministry of Education, is set to guide the academic activities of the forty-six public Colleges of Education across the nation.
The distribution list for this announcement includes esteemed figures such as Vice Chancellors from prominent institutions like the University of Cape Coast (UCC), University for Development Studies (UDS), University of Education Winneba (UEW), University of Ghana (UG), and Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST).
A notable feature of the upcoming academic year is the implementation of a new Residential Policy, labeled as IN-IN-IN-OUT. Under this policy, students from Levels 100 to 300 will be accommodated on campus simultaneously, fostering an environment of shared experiences and collaborative learning.
In contrast, Level 400 students will engage in commuting from outside campus for their lectures, introducing a unique dynamic to the academic landscape.
Dr. Addae-Boateng urged all stakeholders to take note of this significant shift in the operational structure, emphasizing that the Academic Calendar will run concurrently for all students throughout the academic year. This adjustment aims to streamline academic activities and enhance the overall educational experience for students.
2023/2024 Colleges of Education academic calendar
The calendar itself outlines key dates and activities for the 2023/2024 Academic Year. Notable dates include:
- January 10: B.Ed Level 400 students report to campus for orientation for Macro Teaching.
- April 8 – 19: End-of-First Semester Examinations for B.Ed Levels 100, 200, and 300 Students.
- June 2: B.Ed Levels 100, 200, 300, and 400 students report to campus for Second Semester.
- Aug. 26 – Sept. 6: End-of-Second Semester Examinations for B.Ed Levels 100, 200, 300, and 400 students.
- Oct. 7: 2024/2025 Academic Year Begins.
