In an exciting development for education graduates across Ghana, the Director-General of the Ghana Education Service (GES), Dr. Eric Nkansah, has hinted at a potential recruitment exercise for university graduates who completed with either a Diploma or Bachelor of Education degree. This announcement follows the recent opening of the GES recruitment portal for the first batch of degree holders from various public colleges of education in Ghana.

The newly launched recruitment portal marks a significant shift in the GES’s approach to teacher placement. For the first time, degree holders can perform self-posting by selecting their preferred region, district, and school for posting. This streamlined process allows candidates to generate their appointment letters online, which they then present to their respective regional education directorates to complete the necessary onboarding procedures.

Dr. Nkansah shared these updates during a press briefing titled “Recruitment of First Batch of Degree Holders (2022) from Public Colleges of Education,” which was also broadcast on his official Facebook page. During the session, he provided comprehensive insights into the new self-posting module and its benefits for the first batch of degree holders.

In a notable interaction during the briefing, a Facebook user named Ama Ohenewaa applauded Dr. Nkansah for the GES’s innovative initiatives and inquired about the recruitment plans for university graduates.

Addressing this concern, Dr. Nkansah revealed that the GES is actively seeking financial clearance from the Ministry of Education to commence the recruitment process for university degree holders and diploma graduates. He emphasized that once the financial clearance is secured, the recruitment process for these graduates would be initiated promptly.

Dr. Nkansah provided further assurances to the university graduates, emphasizing that the self-posting mechanism would not be limited to the first batch of degree holders from public colleges but would also be extended to university graduates. This means that once recruitment begins, university graduates will have the autonomy to choose their preferred postings, similar to their counterparts from public colleges.

Additionally, Dr. Nkansah highlighted the GES’s commitment to transparency and efficiency in the recruitment process. He reassured all potential candidates that the GES is working diligently to ensure that the recruitment exercise is fair, timely, and devoid of bureaucratic delays. This, he noted, is part of the broader efforts to modernize the recruitment process and make it more accessible to all qualified graduates.

The Director-General also took the opportunity to commend the patience and resilience of the graduates who have been eagerly awaiting this opportunity. He acknowledged the crucial role that new teachers play in shaping the future of education in Ghana and reiterated the GES’s dedication to supporting them throughout the recruitment and onboarding process.

This development is a significant step forward in addressing the employment needs of education graduates in Ghana and highlights the GES’s commitment to providing ample opportunities for newly qualified teachers. The introduction of the self-posting module is expected to enhance the efficiency of the placement process, ultimately benefiting both the graduates and the educational institutions they will serve.

As the GES moves closer to securing financial clearance, graduates are encouraged to stay updated with official announcements and prepare for the upcoming recruitment exercise.
